Ameliorating rare genetic conditions does not have to be restricted to raising funds. Raising awareness is just as important. This is where Community Outreach comes into play. Our Outreach team hosts various workshops and events to educate the public on concepts related to rare genomics and the implications of these conditions on various stakeholders.
Thus far, our Outreach team has worked with local Hamilton schools and community centres to provide workshops and seminars pertaining to rare genomics. In addition to encouraging activism by highlighting the impact that students can make in the lives of patients, these workshops have much to offer students as well. Specifically, our workshops aim to:
These workshops are all tailored individually to meet the grade-level of student participants as well as the needs and requests of teachers and coordinators.

- Educate youth concerning basic genetic concepts in accordance with the Ontario curriculum relevant to their grade-level to supplement classroom knowledge.
- Promoting long-term learning through hands-on and collaborative activities
- Creating an opportunity for students to have open-discussions for knowledge synthesis.
